Our Ensemble.
Shakespeare South is led by Artistic Director Alys Daroy (PhD Shakespeare; AADA; UK National Theatre Ian Charleson Award Commendation; Shakespeare’s Globe; Cambridge Shakespeare Festival; Shakespeare by the Sea; author of Shakespeare, Ecology and Adaptation, Bloomsbury Arden Shakespeare, with Paul Prescott).
Our core company ensemble includes multi-award-winning artist Michaela Burger (State Theatre Company of South Australia; State Opera South Australia; Windmill Theatre; Adelaide Cabaret Festival); actor and physical performer Paul Westbrook (Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, London; Rouge; UK and Australian stage and screen); and stage and screen actor Melanie Munt (WAAPA; Western Australian Screen Award; Perth Theatre Equity Guild Award; Black Swan State Theatre Company of WA, amongst others).
Together, the ensemble brings extensive experience in classical and contemporary Shakespeare performance across the UK and Australia. Our work is collaborative and place-responsive, developed with diverse artists, First Nations advisors and performers to ensure it is grounded, respectful, and attuned to the contexts in which we create. Our projects are realised in collaboration with valued partners and supporters across the arts, education, and cultural sectors.
With thanks to our past partners and supporters.
