Much Ado About Nothing

Location

Nexus Theatre, Murdoch University, Whadjuk Noongar boodjar

Date

November 2023

An associated production through Artistic Director Alys Daroy, Much Ado About Nothing was staged at Murdoch University’s Nexus Theatre for the Murdoch Creative Academy in November 2023 with final year Theatre and Creative Production students.

The production explored how eco theatrical techniques and biophilic scenography might be applied within an indoor proscenium arch theatre to heighten liveness and deepen the play’s sensory connection to the natural world. Soundscapes, dynamic staging and upcycled materials were integrated alongside sustainability initiatives designed to reduce environmental impact and embed ecological thinking within pedagogical and public performance practice.

Direction and scenography were by Alys Daroy, with Sarah Courtis and Stephen Platt as co directors. Set design, lighting and sound design and technical management were by Tim Brain.

Performed by Berlin Brownlee, Shane Keefe, Lauren Daniels, Eva South, Blake Davies, Peter Evas, Jasmine Decke, Diane Smiles and Brodie Atkinson.
