Associated creative work InGrained is an interdisciplinary creative research multimedia work and art installation exploring how industrial food systems reshape landscapes, species relations and the ways such entanglements are perceived.
Focused on the Ord River Irrigation Scheme on Miriwoong and Gajirrabeng Country, the work juxtaposes deceptively bucolic drone cinematography of sorghum harvesting with visual disruption, layered sound design, scripted performance and archival material to reveal the less visible infrastructures of agribusiness, water capture, labour, capital, empire and multispecies dependence.
Combining moving image, place-attuned sound, acted audio, installation and sculptural elements made from agricultural, meat-industry and petroleum byproducts, InGrained invites sustained, embodied attention to the social and ecological systems embedded within apparently benign agricultural landscapes.
The work was exhibited in Transversal at FORM Gallery, Claremont, Perth, from 30 October–25 November 2025, curated by Andrea Rassell and Casandra Tytler, Moving Image Lab Perth (MILP), following development through its laboratory residency.
